High Tops to High Heels Luncheon

"The Sports Council is very excited to be able to host something of this magnitude to honor women in the professions of sports and tourism", stated Tammy Kinser, Director of Tourism for the Greene County Partnership. "Sports and Tourism are two large economic drivers in our community and being able to honor females in both of those arenas has been something we have wanted to do for a long time. Having Brittney coming to speak as well as Barbara Wolke, the Sr. VP with the Rutherford County CVB, we will be able to spread the word and the excitement of how women contribute to the overall return on local dollar investments."

The S'mores Run

Come enjoy the sites and sounds of the fall season with us. The S’Mores Run is a family friendly event.  You can walk, run, skip or stroll but please no bicycles. Please note that there is a narrow trail and bridge to The Smokehouse BBQ Restaurant from the trail. We will have a shuttle for those that are unable to access the S’mores Extravaganza due to age or stroller.

Participants will receive a super cool t-shirt, door prizes, the ultimate S’Mores Extravaganza and other goodies.

The race will start at the trailhead in Johnson City with the finish at mile marker 3.5 so the run will be a little longer than the typical 5k race.  For your extra effort, we have marshmallows and chocolate waiting for you at the Smokehouse.

Baroque, the Beatles and Bernstein

Baroque, the Beatles and Bernstein
The Milligan College Orchestra, under the direction of professor of music Dr. Kellie Brown, will present a fall concert featuring an eclectic array of string works. Milligan guitar professor James West will perform Vivaldi’s Guitar Concerto in C Major, and the orchestra will showcase the timeless tunes of the Beatles. The highlight of the evening will be a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the iconic American composer Leonard Bernstein, which will coincide with concerts dedicated to him throughout the world. The orchestra will perform excerpts from his concert works, such as “Simple Song,” “Cakewalk” and “Danzon.” Bernstein’s beloved music from West Side Story will bring excitement through the vivacious rhythms and tunes of “Mamba,” “America” and “Tonight.” Milligan vocal professors Dr. Carrie Klofach and Dr. Noah DeLong will join the orchestra to sing two of Bernstein’s most beautiful songs: “One Hand, One Heart” from West Side Story and “Make Our Garden Grow” from Candide.

Saturday, November 3, 2018 7:30 PM thru 09:00 PM

James Gregory

James Gregory
For decades, the unforgettable caricature of veteran comedian James Gregory has stood grinning; his shirt untucked, his arms outstretched, a carefree welcome to a down-home, hilarious comedy experience.

The James Gregory show turns the clock back to a time when life was simpler; to a better time, before the death of common sense; a time when people sat on the front porch and actually talked to each other without a cell phone in their ear.

We welcome Gregory back to the stage for an evening of non-stop laughter with a wry sense of the absurd, a Southern accent and universal story-telling. The ridiculous, the common and sometimes even the simplest events all become hilarious in the hands of this master storyteller and world-class comedian.
