Theater Games and Improv: A Culminating Event for JCPL’s Artful Aging Program to be Held at Blue Moon Dinner Theatre
Participants from Johnson City Public Library’s Artful Aging program will present “Theater Games and Improvisation” at the Blue Moon Dinner Theatre on Saturday, October 27 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Throughout the performance, the program participants will share the acting skills they have learned in ten weeks of workshop training. The event is free and open to the public. Audience members can talk with the performers after the event.
Christine Murdock taught the Artful Aging
workshops. Murdock was a member of the Road Company Theater, which used improv
techniques and toured worldwide. She has appeared in numerous plays at Barter
Theatre, such as You Can’t Take It with You and The House on the Prairie
Christmas. Murdock also directed the drama group at ETSU’s Tennessee Heritage Governor’s School, using improv to help students explore their Tennessee heritage.
Johnson City Public Library was awarded a Seeding Artful Aging grant
in 2016, and another in 2018. The library was selected by Aroha Philanthropies as
one of only 15 non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. to receive this
prestigious award. Artful
Aging programs enable adults 55 and up to learn, make, and share various art forms
in novel and socially engaging ways.
