JOHNSON CITY – On Thursday, February 7 from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Johnson City Public Library will host a local author talk with Charles Dodd White. White will speak about his most recent novel, In the House of Wilderness, as well as discuss his experience with writing about the Appalachian region.

In the House of Wilderness was published in September 2018. The story is set in east Tennessee and western North Carolina, and it follows transient characters as they journey through both natural landscapes and the internal landscapes of hardship and grief. The book has already received much praise; Andrew Hilleman, author of World, Chase Me Down, has called White’s novel “savage and soulful…with dazzling prose and mythical characters.”

Charles Dodd White is the author of three novels and a short story collection. He has been recognized for excellence in Appalachian writing with the Chaffin Award. He has also received a fellowship from the North Carolina Arts Council. White lives is Knoxville with his family, and he teaches English at Pellissippi State Community College.
